Our Story

Over 50 years of service

There have been many changes since the 1970’s, but the mission has remained the same; providing both hope and tangible help to those in need.

In the 1970’s, Dr. Larry C. Lott along with Hobart & Marie Strickland opened a small food pantry in the basement of 5201 Paseo in Kansas City, MO. They were fueled by the words of the King in Matthew 25,

“I was hungry and you fed me,
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink,
I was homeless and you gave me a room,
I was shivering and you gave me clothes,
I was sick and you stopped to visit,
I was in prison and you came to me.’

The people will reply, ‘Master, what are you talking about? When did we ever see you hungry and feed you, thirsty and give you a drink? And when did we ever see you sick or in prison and come to you?’ Then the King will say, ‘I’m telling you the truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did it to me.’

The pantry moved locations several times and at times included a clothing closet, sponsored coat drives, and helped local schools provide Thanksgiving and Christmas boxes to families.

In 2018, Dr. Lott’s son expanded services to provide wrap-around services to homeless families in Hickman Mills School District. LIFT Inc. was created as an umbrella for these services.

Project Wisdom, a diversion program, was added in 2021 in conjunction with local Courts to provide classes for first time offenders in anger management, shoplifting, and substance abuse.

Life In Full Transformation continues to take cues from the community on providing services to families in Kansas City. Our goal is not only to provide tangible resources, but hope and full transformation for all our guests.
